A Quiet Day (Satdurday 9.7.2013)

The property manager was scheduled to stop by at some point to make sure we are happy with the property.  Nita and I decided to mooch around the house till he arrived while everyone else went out to explore more of Dinan

Phil dropped by around 1pm.  A charming Brit with deep experience in the restaurant and hotel industries, Phil helped us out with a few little issues and left us with some fantastic zucchini and cucumbers from his garden.

Later in the afternoon, Nita and I went up THE HILL(tm) to look for dinner makings for the crew.  It seemed a good idea to eat in for once instead of burdening the locals with our silliness.  We scooped up a big load of groceries from Monoprix, including a fantastic little shopping trolly to haul stuff back down the hill.  Much, much easier!

Dinner was a huge pot of chicken stew, salad, bread and rose'.  Not too bad!  The ingredients we find here in France are just so different from what we found at home.  The lack of factory farming in France leads to local farmers producing food that is more intense, more concentrated in flavor than what we are used to.  This is a dream for a cook like me.

Dinner and or drinks with wine and cheese are rapidly becoming our favorite thing about this house.
After dinner we invaded our local bar for desserts and drinks.  Coffee, wine and other random drinks were enjoyed by all for a couple hours till it was time for an early bedtime.

Sunday looks to be another quiet day, Monday may be a trip to Cancale for oysters and wine!
